Philip Jolly -!Fresh from their festival appearance at The Vicar’s Picnic last weekend, Gravesend’s best kept secret – but not for much longer I suspect - The Unknown, last night rocked The Rose in Perry Street to its foundations (well, it makes a change from their usual trick of blasting the roof off at The Pelham just up the road I suppose!)

They’d warmed up for this gig earlier in the day by opening the entertainment at The Riverside Festival, where by all accounts, they had a sizeable audience eating out of their hands by the end of their 45 minute set. However, if it was already hot and sticky, sultry even, before the 9:00pm start, you can just imagine what the atmosphere was like by the time they finished a couple of hours later.

With the musical tightness and confidence that comes with more regular gigging the band commenced with their very own ‘We Are The Unknown’, before proceeding to play a rockin’ set mixing their own material, including a couple of as yet unreleased songs from their forthcoming second album, with tried and trusted favourites from the likes of The Stereophonics, Radiohead, The Kings Of Leon, The Killers, Ocean Colour Scene, T-Rex and killer versions of Stevie Wonder’s ‘Superstition’ and Fleetwood Mac’s ‘The Chain’ amongst too many highlights to mention here. All in all, once again, a great evenings entertainment!
